Living Safely With Cords
Many 3 Day Blinds window coverings are available with lift systems that use a fixed-length anchored and tension cordloop. While not cordless, these shades do eliminate free-hanging cords. To be effective, it is critical that these cordloops be properly anchored and tensioned. If any time a cord tensioner becomes detached or a cord separates from its anchor, please reattach immediately or contact our Customer Care team for additional support.

Use Cord Cleats
Free-Hanging Cords or Cordlock Shades can be made safer by securely wrapping cords on to cleats when not in use.
Cord cleats are available free of charge—just ask.
Don’t tie cords together
NEVER knot multiple free-hanging cords together to form a closed loop; always keep them untangled.

Child Safety Checklist
Replace all window coverings in the home made before 2001 with today's safer products.
- Install only cordless window coverings in young children's bedrooms and sleeping areas.
- Move all cribs, beds, furniture and toys away from windows and window cords, preferably to another wall.
- Keep all window pull cords, inner lift cords and back cords out of the reach of children.
Make Sure:
- Tasseled pull cords are always out of reach, whether the window treatment is raised or lowered.
- Lock cords into position whenever horizontal blinds or shades are lowered, including when they come to rest on a windowsill
- Cord stops are properly installed and adjusted to limit movement of inner lift cords
Safety Advisories
The window covering industry uses warning tags, labels and other materials to communicate potential hazards of corded window coverings. Below you will see an example of one of these warning labels. This warning label warns against a potential strangulation hazard. The label is there for your safety and recommends purchasing cordless treatments or treatments with cords that are inaccessible.
3 Day Blinds takes child safety very seriously and we do our part in trying to raise awareness of potential hazards of corded window treatments. Ask your design consultant to learn more about these labels and products we carry that may be better suited for your home and situation.
